That’s because here at La Marguerite & Co., our main and secret ingredient is LOVE! Which brings us to what the rose flower symbolizes in the first place…

History Of The Rose Meets Macarons

rose macarons granulated sugar - La Marguerite

Roses have been around for over 35 million years, making them one of the most ancient flowers in fossil history. There are at least 150 species of roses spread all throughout northern Africa and parts of the Northern Hemisphere. But they originated in Central Asia. In fact, there are historical writings of Confucius mentioning growing roses in the Imperial Gardens. There are even paintings and other artifacts found in 5th-century Egyptian tombs that contained roses. It’s been said that Nebuchadnezzar, the Persian King, slept on mattresses filled with rose petals.

As for the color, it’s said that pink was the first color of rose cultivation. In fact, during the Victorian era, pink roses were used as wallpaper and decorations. But the truth is, roses come in all shapes, sizes, and even colors. Today, red, white, and pink roses often serve as symbols of love, romance, beauty, passion, and purity. And it’s believed that roses are perhaps the most romantic and thoughtful flower to give to loved ones. Now, the reason people are so drawn to the rose flower is because of its versatility.

Back in the Roman period, roses were used as confetti for certain celebrations. But the main attraction to roses is that they contain quite a few antioxidants, medicinal properties, and a sweet fragrance. Romans used them to make perfume and medicinal ointments.

Today you can find rose-infused drinks, ice cream, and delicious pastries. But there’s just something special about indulging in rosewater macarons. And here at La Marguerite & Co., we’ve taken the historical macaron French pastry and infused it with our own mouth-watering buttercream rose filling. But we get it… What’s the point of giving rose macarons when a bouquet of roses is more traditional?

Benefits Of Rosewater Macarons

Sure, you could easily give a bouquet of roses. Heck, a single rose might even do the trick. But there’s something special about beautiful, delicious macarons. They not only hit your sense of smell, but they also hit your sense of touch, taste, and sight. Here are a few reasons why our customers have fallen madly in love with our rosewater buttercream macarons:

1. Rose Macarons Are Tasty

We love chocolate as much as Willy Wonka loves his chocolate factory, but let’s be honest… Not everyone loves the rich taste of chocolate. And maybe you’re one of them. That’s why we invite you to give rose macarons a try.

You see, most people don’t normally think of eating roses. But the truth is, roses are considered one of the most edible flowers in the world. Its flavor is often associated with strawberries, raspberries, green apple, and undertones of mint and spice. So imagine what the combination of fruity rosewater, smooth buttercream, and the hint of a sweet crunchy almond cookie would taste like? Heavenly.

In fact, many people describe the taste of rose macarons as raspberry rose macarons because it resembles the taste of sweet raspberries.

2. Rose Macarons Are Better Than A Bouquet Of Roses

Ok, ok… Maybe rose macarons aren’t exactly better than a bouquet of flowers for all occasions, but hear us out… Not everyone enjoys a bouquet of flowers. We know, it’s shocking. But the truth is that flowers die, and more often than not, it’s from accidental neglect. Sad, we know. But rose macarons are edible, so they don’t have a chance to sit around and go bad. Not to mention, a bouquet of roses can sometimes be pretty pricey. A box of rose macarons is much more affordable... and tasty!

Another great thing about flower macarons is that you can arrange them in such a way that resembles a bouquet of roses. And what’s better than edible arrangements, right? Especially if you’re using pink and white macarons.

If you really want to get fancy, and if you have the budget, you can easily sprinkle a few real roses into your pink macaron bouquet.

3. Rosewater Macarons Are Elegantly Decorative And Mess-Free

We all know that roses symbolize love. Weddings and Valentine's Day are when you’ll see roses the most. They’re used in bouquets, wedding arches, and on cakes.

Speaking of cakes… Wedding cakes are often incredibly expensive and messy to serve. So you’re often stuck looking for easy-to-serve wedding cupcakes for your wedding guests to devour. It’s the same with Valentine’s Day celebrations… If it’s not a heart-shaped cake, it’s little red frosted cupcakes and cookies, which are a nightmare to clean up. Especially when your guests take one bite and leave the rest of the cookie or cupcake on the table. Well, we have the perfect solution… Rose macarons! Or better yet, rose-shaped macarons. Or how about rose gold macarons? The sky’s the limit!

Whether you use rose-shaped macarons, or even rose wine macarons, macarons are truly the elegant pastry of choice. They scream “celebrate” in the most sophisticated voice. And they can be used to decorate any occasion, like weddings, Valentine’s Day, birthdays, baby showers, and wedding showers. And the best part is… Rose macarons are incredibly easy to serve and clean up… Well, there’s actually not much of a cleanup when you're serving La Marguerite & Co. rose macarons. Because there won’t be any left to clean up. Just saying.

4. Rose Macarons Are Easy To Store

Are you one to have a high amount of self-control? You have no problem limiting yourself to one, maybe two, rosewater macarons? In cases like this, our bite-sized rose macarons just need to be placed in an air-tight container and stored either in your fridge or freezer. (Macarons can handle room temperature storage, but they won't be as fresh.) Boom, you’re done!

As for the rest of us… Tasty rose macarons are lucky to see the light of the next day.

5. Rose Macarons Speak Volumes When Words Fail

We all know that flowers communicate compassion, love, support, and other emotions without saying a single word. It’s the same thing with a gift of chocolates. You don’t have to say anything, you don’t even have to write a note. The simple gesture of giving flowers or edibles speaks volumes. So imagine what a gift of flower macarons, like rosewater macarons, would mean to your loved ones and acquaintances.

And the best part about rose-infused pastries is that like certain berries, they contain antioxidants. Which makes them a healthier option than some of the heavily processed, refined-sugary treats available today. So you see, roses aren’t just beneficial for your health, they’re also decorative, jovial, and most of all, they speak volumes when you just can’t find the right words to say.

That said, you might be curious to see…

How To Make Rose Macarons

The key to successfully creating high-quality and tasty rose macarons is by following every step of your rose macarons recipe. Seriously, don’t take any shortcuts. No one wants those pesky air bubbles in the shells or for the rose buttercream to lack decadent flavor.

If your rose macaron recipe calls for a specific rose filling of petals or lychee, get those ingredients. The end result will be rewarding, regardless of what you’re making is a rose lychee macaron or rose petal macarons. Rose macarons are fun to make, and they’re oh-so-pretty. Their pink color is warm and very inviting. But rose isn’t the only flavor that comes as a pink macaron.

If you’re looking for more pink macaron flavors, or you want a different pink macaron recipe, then a touch of pink food coloring can make all the difference. Just be sure you stick to the three traditional macaron ingredients: Almond flour, egg whites, and granulated sugar. All you'll need for baking equipment is a baking sheet, a piping bag, parchment paper, and if you want to get fancy, a stand mixer with a whisk attachment. Now, floral macarons in particular can be challenging. Perfecting the macaron shells takes patience and time. You can also enhance the recipe by adding extra ingredients like vanilla extract, white chocolate, egg whites, and even dried rose petals! Many people try to imitate the Laduree rose macaron recipe. If you don’t know who Laduree is, they’re one of Europe's renowned macaron bakeries.

While we believe you can definitely tackle the rose macaron recipe of Laduree, if you’ve never made French macarons before, then Broma Bakery Macarons have a few fun and easy macaron recipes to explore. The best part about learning how to make rose macarons is that it opens the door for you to create other delicious macarons, like champagne macarons. Speaking of which, did we mention we have an irresistibly amazing champagne macaron recipe? But we’ll save that for another time.

Now, if you’re realizing you don’t have the time or the right ingredients to create rose macarons, then you might be wondering…

Where To Buy Rose Macarons

rose macaron almond flour - La Marguerite

Since Italian / French macarons first came on the scene, more and more stores and bakeries have been offering them to the public. But not all rose macarons are created the same. Some rose macarons are more like soft macarons. They offer no crunch and may taste more bitter than sweet. Bleh!

And if you’re not really careful, some rose macarons aren’t created with gluten-free almond flour and are filled with a ton of dairy-heavy rose filling or icing sugar.

But here at La Marguerite & Co…

  • We focus only on the finest gluten-free, dairy-free, certified kosher ingredients,
  • We employ only the best artisanal pastry chefs, and
  • We believe wholeheartedly that quality and consistency are key when creating our award-winning macarons.
